Galvarino Ceron Carrasco

Galo, to his friend, is a well known Scottish classical trained musician. He came to Scotland with his family as refugees. The family settled in Dundee. Galo's father was in 1974 a prisoner of the Pinochet's Regime and as such was in a concentration camp not far from he south Polo at the remote Dawson isle.

We have been playing music together for a good numbers of years in Scotland, Wales and England. We have done so many things together and it is fair to say that my own music has been enhanced with his playing talent.

We can hear him playing in most of my songs. Galo plays the compositions of Latin American composers such as Ginastera, Piazzolla, Villlalobos, Lauro, Ponce, Barrios and Brouwer: Argentina, Brazil, Venezuela, Mexico, Paraguay and Cuba all united by Galo's fingers.

He has done so many things since he was "wee": a great del of Solidarity work with Chile. He was a founder of the well known band Salsa Celtica. He has recently been involved in theatre work. Galo, and his sister, Dr. Rubi Ceron, are of Mapuche origin.

Kalkutun Live in Edinburgh
Some well known pieces of Latin American music arranged by Galo Ceron and played by Kalkutun an ensemble organized by Galo.

El Marabino
By Venezuelan composer Antonio Lauro
The piece is beautifully played by Galvarino Cerón Carrasco.
I tried to follow him by playing the Venezuelan instrument called Cuatro.
